This week in Room 119

Happy Autumn!!

I love autumn.  It is the perfect weather for me...not too hot and not too cold.

This past week was a good week as we continue to establish the routines and get used to the expectations.  There was our yearly QSP assembly.  Lucky for me, my class last year sold the most magazines subscriptions so I got to be the first teacher to wear a penguin hat for recess.  It was lovely. No really.

What a great class I have.  They spent recess on Thursday making me a great birthday card on which all the students signed their names.  They helped to make my birthday a great day.

This week coming up is a short week but a busy one as well.  On Thursday, we will be have a motivational speaker in morning talking to our students about motivation.  In the afternoon, we will have our own Terry Fox walk/run at school.  Students are asked to bring in Toonies for Terry to raise money for Cancer research.

There will be a Patterning Quiz on Thursday so we can finish off the unit and then we will be moving forward into Number Sense and Numeracy.  Last week we started working on our Math Journals and the students are getting the hang of it and I am really able to see how well each student understands the concepts that are being taught.  You will see examples of the Math Journals at the Open House on October 3rd.

In Language, we will be still focusing on Summarizing the texts we are reading and will begin working on our Narrative writing in earnest.

There have been a few changes to the timetable so students have been given the new timetables that comes into effect this week.  The most important thing to note is that Physical Education is now on Monday and Tuesday.

Our first Character Assembly will be next Monday Morning.

Remember, if you need to speak to me, please email me or leave me a message so we can arrange a convenient time for both of us.

Have a phenomenal week.

Ms. Green
