Sorry for the delay in this post. I spent the day yesterday downtown looking at a post-secondary school for my daughter...yikes, when did that happen?
The only homework that the class has is to go on Kidblog and talk about the Adventure or Mystery book that they have chosen for their podcast. If they are having problems with accessing their blog, they are to email me and I will change their password for them so they can access their blog.
They also need to finish their vocabulary foldable if they haven't finished it during class time.
Remember, tomorrow, Monday, is a Professional Activity day so there is no school for students.
On Tuesday morning we are very lucky to have Scientists in the School with us for the morning. It is always lots of fun to have the scientists visit our class.
This week coming up we will be working a bit more on factors and multiples. The questions asked during the quiz really pointed to a need for further teaching.
In language, we will be working in non-fiction summaries and working intensively on our narratives. Stories should be coming home in the next few weeks.
A number of culminating tasks will be coming up in science and social studies, mostly group work to be completed in class. Students will be given plenty of time to work in class. They may be required to do a few things at home to add to the final tasks being done in class.
The kids are so excited that we are welcoming a new student to room 119 on Tuesday. At the end of the day on Friday we talked about the best way to make her feel welcome. I was pleased to see the positive energy coming from the class. Oh, and the girls were so excited to have another girl in the class.
We have spent some time talking about bullying in light of the Amanda Todd tragedy. We had two very interesting discussions about things you do on the Internet and what we need to do to stop bullying. This will be an ongoing discussion n our class. We will also be having an Internet safety seminar on November 1.
Enjoy the beautiful fall weather.
